Review
This book is actually 2 novellas and 3 short stories that share characters. The first novella, “Low Men in Yellow Coats”, is more traditional King, with a Young Boy In Trouble and hints of the supernatural, but it’s really the rest of the book that got me going, with its portrait of fatalistic college kids in the sixties and the baby boomers they became. I read novella #2 and short stories 1-3 in a mad rush today, and came up remembering why Stephen King really got me going a few years ago. Ever since I finished the Dark Tower series, I haven’t picked him up nearly as much, but I decided to change that recently, and I’m glad I did. I think I’ll be reading a few more King books before the year is out. Great stuff. It makes me want to re-read the Dark Tower through one more time for good measure.
