I’m glad I found this in audiobook form. I had originally checked it out from the library and never got around to reading it before it was due back, but now that I’ve finished this first book I am thoroughly hooked. This story reminded me of a Kurosawa movies with a hint of fantasy added into the mix, and it was just as stirring and involving.
Also, this first volume definitely ends with multiple story threads unresolved… will our young lovers reunite? Will Takeo escape his heritage as a Kikuta? I’m definitely going to be checking out the next volume from the library soon… unless I can find the audiobook
