Review
This is a hard one to rate - I can’t decide between 6 or 7, and can’t rate it 6.5. It’s probably the most frustrating book I’ve read (listened to) in a while, simply because a large part of the plot requires that the characters be childish morons. I know the two main characters are meant to be 12, but I swear I wasn’t that stupid at that age… I kept thinking “show everyone else the candle!”, but instead the characters decided to go off on their own so that they could save the world by themselves. I do think, however, that since this is a kid’s book and probably a much quicker read in print, I will read the sequel, simply because this one ends on a cliffhanger. Kind of an inauspicious end to my 52 books, though, so I’m going to have to finish something else better than this one to round off my year.
