This is the first book in a quartet. I’m fairly certain I read this one about 10 years ago, but I didn’t remember anything about it, so I decided to re-read it so that I could read the rest of the series. Wolfe is at top form here… the book is filled with adventure, romance, philosophical discussions, and surrealistic fantasy. Wolfe likes to imply things without ever fully explaining them, and it adds a tinge of danger and mystery to everything he writes.
