i told mark about this already.
so… perhaps you may remember that girl haley that i called a few weeks ago. she was the one that i didn’t actually get a hold of (the same night that i did talk to becca). well, anyways, on tuesday night i went over to matt & jim’s, and she was there, and we kind of talked a little bit, and it was nice because she’s cute but also clearly intelligent. she went home well before i did because she actually goes to sleep at decent times, but after she left i was talking to matt about her, and i said “man, she’s really cute, and smart, and would you please fix me up with her?” and he said he would do what he could.
the next day he comes up to me and says “man, haley and i are in a class together, and we we were talking after class and she said ‘it was really nice to talk to jeff last night. he seems like a really nice guy.’ and then she said something about you guys being ‘kindred spirits’”
kindred spirits is good. very good.
anyways, that night i was in my room drinking instead of doing homework, but i came downstairs for a while, and haley was there. except she was planning on leaving already, because she was dizzy for some reason. she looked even cuter (dressed up as she was) and we ended up talking for about five or ten minutes before she finally left.
after she left, matt turned to me and said “man, when that girl wants to leave, she leaves, and you got her to stay for an extra five minutes. she’s definitely interested.”
i told him that i wanted to get some folks together to go see ladykillers on saturday night, and it seemed like a good chance to hang out with haley.
later that night, after matt had left and i was drunk, two of my other friends were insisting that i should try and make it a date-date as opposed to a group date. i was personally of the opinion that a group thing would be a good way to start. keep her comfortable, but make the setting a little more focused than a random party.
anyway, it gets to be thursday night and i’m about to give her a call, but first i talk to matt so i can maybe get her cell phone number (apparently the best way to get a hold of her). except… matt gets off the phone and tells me that haley and her friend adri… are going to the movies with us on saturday. he’s already done the dirty work.
i’ll let you know how it goes, but the one thing that i definitely want to say it that this feels like it might be the sort of thing i have been holding out for, i.e. a cute, intelligent girl… who appears to be intrigued by me. hmmm.
