so it turns out that

so it turns out that the shitty javascript i attempted to do (basically blind and from memory) fucks up my page and makes it unviewable on some computers. hmm. not that it matters, since i have written anything worthwhile in three weeks. hmm.

well, basically, I went to italy one weekend. specifically, bologna. we went there because we had heard it was the great unsung italian city, and the culinary capital of italy. they inveted tortellini, spaghetti bolognese, etc. gourmet food was everywhere.

well, the first thing that happened when we got there was that our hotel was not where we thought it was. it was in fact 8 km outside of the city. which sucked. we took way too many cabs. the five of us stayed in a hotel room that only three of us were paying for.

i spent a lot of money that weekend between the flight, cabs, food, and traveling. on sunday we hopped on a train and went to florence for about six hours, which was pretty cool. we went and saw the statue of david, which was a total ripoff. $8.50 to see a big ol’ statue that you can see a replica of outside. and the rest of the museum was full of paintings that i was completely uninterested - basically repeating motifs of jesus and the virgin mary in various situations, all painted in pretty much the same dam style. oh well. I had $1000 before i went to italy, and I had almost half that by the time I got back. i complain too much though. it was actually an awesome trip. the food was great, and it was worth it to spend the money just to be in that country.

other than italy, i’ve just been working a lot. the week after my trip was the big event that i had been working towards all semester. a bunch of playwrights showed up and schmoozed with each other. it was a really fascinating experience. at one point i attempted to hit on a girl that was probably 25 or 26, but she was very nice to me. an incredibly sweet girl, didn’t treat me like shit even though i was obviously much younger and attempting to chat her up. i have to admit i’m getting starved for female contact. the one girl i had been hanging out with has been distant ever since she returned from fall break. oh well.

last night i went and saw bowling for columbine, which just opened here. it was really good, even though it was basically propaganda. i recommend watching it. it will make you want to move to canada.

tonight i’m going to try to see punch-drunk love, because it’s playing as part of a film festival - apparently one of two times it will play in a theatre here in the uk. i know i could wait and see it on video, but i want the big-screen experience.

tomorrow i am going to fix my site and take out the stupid javascript. i’m assuming someone can read this, because there have been guestbook postings. see you guys soon.
